RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. Road Map for the formulation of Vehicle Safety Laws
  2. Vehicle Testing and Fitness Certification
  3. Road Safety Audit for new and Existing Roads
  4. Policy and Road Map for Gradual Phasing out of vehicles older than 20 years
  5. Vehicle safety laws to be equally applied to used imported vehicles
  6. PS4845 (passenger cars) & PS789 (agricultural tractors should be approved and recommended to the Government of Pakistan to be brought into the mandatory list of PSQCA to monitor the quality.
  7. Need to promote education of automotive engineering and technology by setting institutions across the country.
  8. Need to develop strong linkage between academia and automotive industry.
  9. Need to adopt leapfrog approach in dealing with emerging technologies of automotive such as Electric vehicles countering environmental pollution.
  10. Need to maintain database for automotive sector.
  11. Extensive efforts are needed to undertake the development of indigenous vehicle.
  12. Separate track for motorcycles for reduction of Rider & Pedestrians Injuries
  13. Establishing Helmet & Seat Belts Laws
  14. Speed Management
  15. Effective use of I-T technology in traffic control for metropolitan city (Intelligent Transport System, ITS Technology)
  16. Develop Data System (Trauma & Collision Data)
  17. Safe Vehicle Design
  18. Implementing Road Safety in the planning & Design stage
  19. Improvisation of the License System
  20. Improvisation of Pre-hospital Care System
  21. Implementation of traffic control infrastructure.
  22. Establishment of National Lead Road Safety Agency
  23. Establishment of Trauma Surveillance (Highways)
  24. Safety Oriented Accident Investigation
  25. Awareness, Education & Training Wing of Road Safety Technical/ Engineering Cell.
