mobile world magazine china tyre fair nokian tyre 2Pekka Oey: Nokian Tyres is the only tyre manufacturer in the world that focuses on products and services that facilitate safe transportation in northern conditions. The company’s innovative passenger car, truck and heavy duty machinery tyres are mainly marketed in areas that have snow, forest and changing seasons that make driving conditions demanding. Nokian Tyres develop its products aiming at sustainable safety and environmental friendliness throughout the life cycle of the product.

MW: What is the Summer tyre?

Pekka Oey: The new Nokian Line and Nokian zLine summer tyres offer driving safety and toughness like never before. On SUV tyres the Aramid-reinforced sidewalls are more resistant to cuts and punctures on rough gravel roads and paved streets alike. These are also designed for demanding and varying conditions.

MW: What is the range of Nokian Tyres Production?

Pekka Oey: Nokian Tyres’ production facilities are located in Finland and Russia. Product development and the manufacture of prototypes and test batches take place in Nokia, in connection with the company’s head office. The Nokia factory manufactures passenger car tyres, heavy tyres, and retreading materials for truck tyres. The state-of-the-art factory in Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg, manufactures approximately 80% of company’s passenger car tyres. From Vsevolozhsk, tyres are supplied to more than 40 countries making Nokian Tyres the largest exporter of consumer goods in Russia. The company’s investments in the Russian production facilities exceed 800 million euros. In Russia, the production cost of tyres is clearly lower than in Finland or other Western countries. The operation in Russia has been supported by tax agreements based on the amount of investments and the location of the factory behind tariff walls.
