Founded in June 1988, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Automotive Committee, is one of the earliest industrial associations in People’s Republic of China. The committee is approved by competent state authorities as a foreign trade organization. Pursuant to the applicable state laws, regulations, policies and regulations of CCPIT/CCOIC, the Committee is aimed:
To organize various forms of economic and technological cooperation between China and other countries and regions on foreign trade, investment and technology imports in the automotive and motorcycle sectors;
To facilitate economic and technological development between China and other countries in the automotive industry; and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and foreign economic and trade communities.
Since its foundation, the Committee has kept abreast of the latest situations and market demand in domestic and global automotive sectors, hence contributing to the friendly exchanges between China and the rest of the world in various domains, not least the development of economic and trade ties in the automotive field. As the committee matures into an important bridge and platform linking up China and the rest of the world in the automotive and trade sectors, it is not only playing an active and instrumental role in the Chinese automotive industry, but also exerting a major influence in the international community.
The Committee has succeeded in forging highly influential global auto shows by leading the domestic automotive sector in organizing and hosting specialized international auto shows. Auto China, Auto Shanghai and Auto Guangzhou have been distinguished as major specialized exhibitions in Asia and even the world at large.
Among these, the Beijing International Auto Show (Auto China) is known as an important biennial event participated by the global automotive giants.
Auto Shanghai, known as the earliest specialized international auto show in China, has erected a high-level exchange platform for global automotive industry with its constantly innovative concept; and the
Auto Guangzhou is now the third largest of its kind in China next to the Beijing and Shanghai Auto Show. Since 2012, the Committee has successfully hosted two largest commercial vehicle shows in China, i.e. the China International Commercial Vehicle Show held in Wuhan in odd-numbered year and the China (Guangzhou) International Commercial Vehicle Show held in Guangzhou in even-numbered year.
With the aim of encouraging the Chinese automotive industry to initiate more innovations and developments in new technology, trade, branding strategy, new energy, manufacturing and aftermarket service, the Committee has successfully initiated and hosted high-level international dialogues, platforms, meetings and forums participated by global elites since 2010 including the Global Automotive Forum, which involves forward-looking discussions of the future automotive industry and conduces outstandingly to smooth implementation of government development programs, industrial restructuring & rejuvenation and self-independence & expansion into the international market by Chinese auto makers,. In order to promote international trade, cooperation and exchange in the automotive sector, the Committee has hosted the Go Global Forum of Auto Sector and prepared the Bluebook on China’s Motor Vehicle Export. On a regular basis, the Committee mobilizes auto parts and motorcycle manufacturers to participate in scores of international exhibitions. Furthermore, the Committee also organizes the National Forum of Auto Dealers” to forge new platforms and serve the entire industry chain.
Currently, the Committee is working towards the development of a full service framework geared towards an internationalization strategy for the Chinese automotive sector. Built on the concept of serving an automotive industry and promoting trade in the sector, the frame work will encompass the entire operation process of auto makers, including auto show and forum organization, information and database research, technological development, survey, business talks, events promotion, consultation and training.
