PSQCA deliberates on Electric Motorcycle & Emission Limits

 

Ecologically, Electric Vehicles are a blessing, creating no pollution hazards and not necessary dependent on natural resources for their fuel. PSQCA appreciates holistically the Electric Mopeds, which are ideal for about 50 Km trips with recharging between journeys and suggested to produce lighter batteries with better power capacity.

Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority, Standards Development Center, Automobile Division held a meeting of Technical Committee (ATC-09) on Two Wheeler Motorcycles (Electric Motorcycles/ Mopeds/ Scooters) on 28-01-2010 in SDC Networking Room at 1st floor, 39-Garden Road, Saddar, Karachi.

Razi-ur-Rahman (M/s Atlas Honda Ltd.) chaired the meeting. The technical experts, technologists, stakeholders and Government Officials attended the meeting. The members were invited for an open discussion on the salient features.

During interpretation of draft specifications some amendments/ corrections were made and it was unanimously resolved by the house that the specifications of Electric Motorcycle/ Mopeds/ Scooters should be incorporated in the existing Pakistan Standard i.e. PS: 4707-08(R) in a separate table Clause No.10.

It was also resolved that the draft should be re-casted accordingly. After detailed discussion and necessary amendments/ corrections, with the concurrence of house the specifications of Two Wheelers (Electric Motorcycle/ Mopeds/ Bicycle) were approved subjective to corrections/ amendments advised by the technical committee. The draft specifications were tentatively approved by the chairman.
